Friendly Visiting & Phone Reassurance
We would like to invite you to become part of our Friendly Visiting & Phone Reassurance Programs, a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of isolated individuals within our community. By joining this program, you have the chance to bring joy, companionship, and a sense of belonging to those who may be experiencing loneliness.
Make a Real Difference: Your time and companionship can significantly improve the quality of life for isolated individuals in our community.
The Friendly Visiting volunteer provides companionship and assurance that the care receiver is in a safe
environment. They focus on enhancing the quality of the person they are visiting by providing in person human socialization, support, and concern.
The Phone Pal volunteer provides relief from isolation with friendly conversation via phone, email or letters. Check-in calls will help caregivers and receivers find a sense of safety and security.
Duties:
· Comply with program policies and procedures of Faith in Action.
· Provide socialization through conversation, reading, playing cards, or other games, encouraging participation in
hobbies of interest to care receiver.
· Respite: Provide simple housekeeping activities when necessary in order to maintain a safe environment.
· Respite: Supervise and help over mealtime.
· Report concerns which may arise during caregiving with Faith in Action Coordinator.
· Document volunteer hours and turn in to Faith in Action office at the end of the month.
Home Meal Delivery

Faith in Action for Cass County is committed to ensuring that no one in our community goes without a warm, nutritious meal. Our meal delivery program is a lifeline for those facing challenges that limit their access to proper nutrition.
We are seeking reliable and compassionate volunteers to assist in the vital task of meal delivery. Your time and commitment will directly contribute to improving the well-being of individuals who may be elderly, disabled, or facing other difficulties.

Receive directions from the Faith in Action Office including recipients name, address, directions, phone number, and additional information including what to do if the client is not home.
Pick up meals from the nutrition site (cooked by Walker Lutheran Social Services) at the specified time.
Drop off the meals at the agreed upon location. This can include in the house in the freezer, outside in a freezer, or to the recipient.
Inform the Faith in Action office of any concerns, such as unsafe home conditions or concerns regarding the physical or mental state of the recipient.

Minor home repair & ramp building
Are you a skilled builder, carpenter, plumber, appliance repair technician, mason, electrician, or have expertise in related trades? We are on the lookout for individuals like you to make a positive impact on the lives of those in our community!

We are seeking passionate and skilled volunteers to join our team in building ramps and conducting minor home repairs. Your expertise can transform a house into a home, providing accessibility and comfort for those in need.
Building Ramps: Help us create wheelchair-accessible ramps, enabling individuals with mobility challenges to move freely in and out of their homes.
Home Repairs: Tackle minor repairs that can significantly improve the safety and functionality of a home, making a lasting impact on the lives of our community members.

Transportation
The volunteer will provide safe and efficient transportation to and from a client’s destination(s), such as medical, therapy and social service appointments, grocery shopping, errands, or other needs.
Responsibilities:
Call client prior to pick up time to identify yourself and confirm the ride is still on as scheduled.
Assist client into and out of the vehicle (if necessary) by opening/closing the door, offering your arm for balance, handing them the seatbelt, and placing their walker or cane in backseat or trunk.
Wait for client while they are inside their destination or agree upon a time and place to return to pick them up. For clients with memory concerns, you may be asked by the Faith in Action office to remain with the client the entire time.
Obey all traffic laws, including seat belt use for everyone in the vehicle.
Report any change in the condition of the client to the Faith in Action coordinator, such as mobility or memory concerns.
Call the Faith in Action office as soon as possible if you are unable to keep an appointment for any reason.
